Gerald Conners, 74, Of Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Gerald Conners, a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, July 15. He was 74.

Born April 14,1942, he was the son of Lillian and Herman L. Conners.

He worked as a painter in the auto body business all of his life, but his passion for painting was not limited to cars. He gladly spent countless hours painting Pop Warner football helmets, the neighborhood children's' bicycles, and even touching up the firetruck before a big parade.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; their children, Scott and his wife, Christie of Wappingers Falls; Brian and his wife, Kelly of New Hamburg; and daughter, JeriLynn of New Hamburg; eight grandchildren, Mckenzie, Brian Jr., Avery, Alyssa, BellaRay, Fallon, Aidan, and Bailey; and his sisters, Mary and Joan.

He was predeceased by brothers, Herman, Robert, and Joseph; and sisters, Jenny, Isabelle, Anna, and Penny.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21, from 4-8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 22, at Zion Episcopal Church, 12 Satterlee Place in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main St., Wappingers Falls.
